I just want to say, this video actually made me finally bought the plane ticket to London and I'm going to travel around Europe in 6 months, all alone. I've been thinking to travel alone for quite a while now, but when I watch this video, it somehow give me the courage to actually do it. So, I'm busy making some plans now. All thanks to you Sonia! :)

Thanks for this video traveling alone. I have travel by myself a lot but not lonely that way. Divorced 5 years and I now do not have someone bothering to go France any where or the U.K. etc. I go to Italy, Croatia and Greece and Switzerland and enjoy myself all the time. Gone to several South American countries. Now heading to China to enjoy the beauty there and the people. I from the U.S. and speak English and fairly good Spanish and a little Swedish and have no problems... Folks please do not be a rude American as I see plenty of those traveling. If you want things like they are in America just stay in America. By the way I do stay in B&B's and eat at local restaurants, not because of the expense but it is get to locals. I travel light.

Traveling alone can open new experiences that you cannot have when you're in a group. Turn your travel into a soul searching trip and you may discover more than just a place to remember.

I traveled with my girlfriend at the time to Lisbon, Portugal and after a week I went off on my own because she wanted to spend more time with her family. That was the best thing that could of ever happened. I traveled on my own for a month around Southern Europe, totally fell in love with traveling, ran out of money, went back home for a month, came back to Europe with a backpack and a EuroPass and 8 years later I had traveled to over 100 countries and all 7 continents. I was completely hooked and didn't stop traveling until I had been everywhere I had wanted to go in the world. Every summer I traveled from 3-5 months to the destination of my choice. It was freaking awesome and sometimes you are alone but you shouldn't feel alone in less you're needy and clingy, but there's always people to talk to or travel with when you're staying in hostels or guesthouses. Just be social and ask questions to your fellow travelers. Yes, there are a few places women should not travel to on their own, do your research. Now get out there and explore your world, you only live twice...

I am travelling alone to Brazil this summer but not staying there alone. I'll be meeting a friend who lives there and staying with them. It's my first time travelling alone and I'm just a little nervous about getting my flights and figuring out where to go in airports. I'm going to an uncommon city, so my flight from Toronto is very indirect. About 25 hours to get there and 4 different planes/ 4 different airports. Also, I agree, research is number 1. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't be going. North Americans are required to have a tourist visa for Brazil which takes between 10 and 14 days to process. You also need a passport that doesn't expire for less than 6 months after you leave to come back. The expiry on mine was less so I had to get in renewed (10 days) and needed it back in my hands before even applying for the visa. So yeah, research everything!

I'm a 29 year old male and have thought about traveling alone. Can't always get time off at the same time with friends so why should I stay at home when I have two weeks off. I want to see New York. Might just book it.

Sonia, you couldn't have said it better. I'm a lone traveler and I've always heard others say "I could never do that, I'd be afraid to get lonely". I didn't. I was talking to locals each time I went, did everything on my own time, could go where and when I want, and could get more wild and not worry, and had a blast. Everyone should take a chance and travel alone.

I have taken several trips alone when my wife was not able to accompany me. I love to take pics when I travel and when I am solo, I have all the time I want for photos of anything that captures my interest. Also, it is important to learn that being alone does not mean being lonely. Learn to enjoy your own company. My last comment is a question. How did this section become about an individual's attitude about alcohol? I seldom drink, but don't go around trying to convince others to do as I do.

Greeting from Houston, Texas! Last year I was suppose to meet a friend in Capetown, South Africa, last minutute she could not go. I had two choices, refund the ticket or take the plunge and travel alone. Thankfully, I came across THIS video and your channel which inspired to me go. Armed with plenty of research and an open mind, I had a spectacular, amazing, mindblowing, adventured-filled 3 weeks in South Africa. I went white-caged shark diving, bungee jumping, I climbed mountains, went on safari and made tons of friends! This year I traveled to Thailand- solo, and next year I plan to visit Latin America. Thank you for your tips, advice and wonderful videos, they inspire me!!

I have travelled by myself. It was kinda fun even though it was hard the first few days. The worst part was going to the restaurants alone because they would always asked me when the second person would be coming and looked SO surprised that I was alone haha. Thank you for all these great videos :)

actually travelling alone is great. i have met some totally bizarre ppl while travelling around on my own. i think i can prob do it one more time before i get too old. one of my favourite things to do, is to go to non-touristy places & walk into a cafe or restaurant or something where no one speaks english, and then try to order stuff speaking entirely in english. i have never had a negative reaction doing this. they always find it funny. although they are probably saying to each other that I am ignorant brit or something lol

Nice video, although I would still be too scared to travel alone. Also, it drives me nuts when people say "drink responsibly". I have ranted against alcohol for years, and my whole point is that a RESPONSIBLE person wouldn't want to use alcohol at all! Alcohol is a drug! Just because it's legal doesn't mean it is right. Pot smokers use this excuse, too. They always say it's okay to smoke pot "responsibly." Again, a responsible person wouldn't want to use a mind-altering drug at all. And we will NEVER get pot smokers to understand why it's wrong and immature to use drugs, as long as people use alcohol. Also, must you use the term "bad*ss?" Here I am always chastising the guys online for using profanity and crude language, and so it really drives me nuts when a woman swears. We will never get the guys to respect women and understand that a gentleman shouldn't swear in front of a lady, as long as ladies use crude language. The guys hear women using words like this, and they think they have to, too, for fear of being called a goody goody or a sissy!
