A new law approved in France on Thursday will see rooftops going green with solar panels or gardens. New buildings built in commercial zones across the country will need to comply with the new environmental legislation and have solar panels or be partially covered in plants. The environmental benefits of the new law include conserving energy for heating and cooling in buildings, providing a place for birds to nest in urban areas and retaining rainwater.
