Heavy rains in Peru have brought deadly mudslides to an area east of Lima. Eight people have died and the main highway linking the centre of the country with the capital Lima has become blocked by mudslides. President Ollanta Humala declared a state of emergency in the area on Wednesday, as rescue operators search for survivors and take food and water to the affected area. Six people remain missing.
