Spain sends vultures to France to help rekindle bird population

Almost a century after France’s black vulture population dwindled to the point of extinction, Spain has sent seven birds to help rebuild the country’s vulture population. The vultures will be fitted with satellite tracking devices and released into the wild. Spain is home to 90% of Europe’s remaining population of black vultures, which were poisoned to the point of extinction in France from inadvertently eating poisons left out for other animals such as bears, wolves and foxes.
