Developers have pledged to begin work on one of central Rome’s greatest eyesores, the Piazza Augusto Imperatore, in October and to complete it within 600 days. The square, which is home to the Roman Mausoleum of Augustus is currently an unkempt mound of earth surrounded by unsightly fences. The €17 million redevelopment project will involve archaeological work, restoration of the mausoleum, landscaping and pedestrianisation of the square. Read more: ansa.it
