The ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius (551-479 BC) has the longest family tree in history according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Some two million descendants have been registered to the Confucian family line, while there are an estimated three million in total. Confucius’ descendants bear the family name Kong (or a variant, such as Kung). Genealogical records have been kept in China for centuries, and the first Confucian family tree was recorded in 1080 AD.
