A new high-speed rail service will soon begin operation in Kazakhstan, connecting its capital Astana with Kyzylorda in the south of the country. Though primarily a hub for oil and gas exploration, Kyzylorda is also the tourist gateway to Aralsk and the Aral Sea. The city was also the Soviet capital of Kazakhstan from 1925-29. The HSR service will commence on 25 April and will include two ‘grand’ class and two business class carriages, as well as tourist carriages and two dining cars. Read more: inform.kz
