Experts have warned that 80% of buildings in Delhi would not survive an earthquake on the scale of the tremor that hit Kathmandu on Saturday morning. Damage from the Nepal quakes has been reported as far afield as Tibet and Bangladesh, with at least 60 deaths reported in northern India. Delhi residents felt the aftershock which hit Nepal on Sunday but funds for a proposed retrofitting project to make Delhi earthquake safe were diverted to preparations for the Commonwealth Games in 2010 leaving the city vulnerable to future tremors.
