On Monday the sun rose over city of Barrow, Alaska, and won’t set again until 2 August. Barrow, which lies north of the Arctic Circle, will see perpetual daylight for most of the summer. Daylight came after Barrow’s brief, 28-minute night on Monday. By August the town’s 4000 residents will celebrate eventual nightfall. Then, on 19 November, the town will descend into perpetual darkness until 23 Jan. Read more: adn.com
