The City of Copenhagen has announced that it will be auctioning off around 7000 iconic street lamps, to pave the way for new energy-efficient replacements. The lamps, which have hung over the city since the 70s, will be sold off in small batches over the next six months and will be replaced entirely by the end of 2015. City officials say the new lights will provide a 57% saving in energy annually, and will help towards achieving their target of making Copenhagen carbon neutral by 2025. Read more: thelocal.dk
