Following the Philadelphia train derailment earlier this month in which eight people died and around 200 were injured, Amtrak have announced they will be installing cameras inside the cabs of its trains to record the actions of the train engineer. The engineer in the cab at the time of the deadly crash has suffered amnesia from a head injury and can’t remember what happened to cause Northeast Regional train 188 to accelerate to a speed of 106mph before entering the curved piece of track where it left the rails. The cameras will first be installed in 70 new Amtrak trains which will serve the Northeast Regional route. Read more: chicagotribune.com
