Philadelphia has been named as the USA’s first World Heritage City by UNESCO. This is the culmination of a two-year initiative by the city and the Global Philadelphia Association.
The designation should help to increase awareness of the historical significance that Philadelphia has to both the USA and the world, and hopefully encourage more people to visit the city. Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. Read more at: traveldailynews.com
