A group of nine boaters has been rescued by the navy of Colombia after being stranded at sea for four days.
The group set sail from Aruba for Venezuela before mechanical problems set the boat adrift. The vessel ran out of gasoline and water damaged the radio, and despite setting off six flares, passing boats did not stop to help. Two of the boaters managed to swim ashore in the northern Colombian province of La Guajira and contacted naval authorities to rescue their shipmates.
