A new road and bridge project, which will link the coastal city of Durban in KwaZulu Natal with Maputo, is expected to boost self-drive tourism between Mozambique and South Africa.

The current route involves poor roads and a ferry, with the final 120km taking three hours or more alone – the time needed to travel that section should be reduced to almost an hour, with the total time saved over the entire journey being around four hours. There are some spectacular ecosystems along the route, so self-drive tourists will finally be able to combine them easily. Read more: tourismupdate.co.za
