The first stage of the 2016 Dakar Rally was cancelled because of heavy rains in Argentina on Sunday.

The cancellation comes after a crash that injured 10 people during the prologue stage that took place on Saturday, as organizers had concerns over road safety and the helicopters that fly overhead for safety assistance were not able to fly in the conditions. Racers will now begin the 5000-mile journey on Monday, traveling through Argentina and Bolivia. Read more: theguardian.com
