On Wednesday evening the skies of northern Italy were lit up by the magnificent sight of a large meteor blazing across the heavens.
The flaming object, which appeared much brighter than the moon, moved across the sky in an easterly direction and was seen from Genoa in the west to Venice, almost 400 kilometers further east. One observer near Venice snapped a photo of the bright object streaking through the sky, whilst another posted an image of its smoking trail, which lingered in the sky after the object had disappeared.
