Thrill-seekers visiting the buildings’ rooftop observatory can opt to pay $33 to fly down the glass slide, which is suspended almost 1000 feet in the air above LA and wraps its way around the US Bank Tower, the eleventh tallest building in the US. The glass is said to be both bulletproof and storm proof, built to withstand both earthquakes and hurricanes, and had to be airlifted on to the tower in March of this year. The slide was built as an added feature to the OUE Skyspace LA, which allows visitors a 360-degree view of downtown LA with views stretching from Santa Catalina island to the San Fernando valley.

The observation deck and slide opened on June 25th, following an all day block party featuring performances from Snoop Dogg and a spectacular fireworks show from the roof of the 72-storey skyscraper.

At a pre-launch event Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel Live and Associated Press reporter Amanda Lee Myers were some of the first brave souls to test the glass slide, and their reactions, as seen below were pretty priceless.

The newly renovated skyscraper also includes a restaurant, bars and a Digital Interactive Level which features a 360-degree Digital Topography Wall of Los Angeles, an Infinity Mirror that creates reflections upon reflections, and a Silhouette Wall which uses pixels to create reflective images based on body movement. The Observation Deck is open daily from 9am to 11pm and costs just US$25. Visitors can opt to brave the glass slide for an extra $8.
