This new plane has special lighting and air filters to help passengers beat jet lag

According to the manufacturers of a new plane that has just been launched, its special lighting and air filters can help passengers to beat jet lag. Airbus says that there is a sophisticated air management system onboard Qatar’s new A350-1000, which entered service between London and Doha in recent days. The air is completely renewed every two to three minutes in the cabin and it contains 20% more fresh air, plus the system offers better humidity and temperature control in multiple cabin zones.

Airbus says that the new plane also offers the lowest cabin altitude on the market (6000ft versus 8000ft) and this can help passengers’ bodies to cope with long journeys and enjoy a more relaxing flight. Jet lag symptoms can be counteracted, because they occur at altitudes of 6500ft, resulting in feelings of fatigue and shortness of breath. The plane is also said to have the quietest twin-aisle cabin in the sky, which is great for those who want to sleep, and a unique flat floor that gives greater legroom.

Passengers on board the new plane will not only feel the difference but also see it with a full LED ambient lighting. The possibility to choose from 16.7 million colours allows airlines to create individual mood lighting scenarios to foster well-being for passengers through every phase of the flight. This means that lighting mimicking natural sunrise and sunset can be chosen, and these will help reduce the effects of jet lag.

Other features include that every window seat on the plane has an actual window thanks to larger panoramic windows, and passengers will have a fully dark cabin while sleeping.  The A350-1000 is the first Airbus to feature Qatar’s Qsuite seats – the first double beds in business class. There is also what the company says is the unique possibility to install an active humidification system in business and first class to reproduce a private jet flying experience.

The overhead bin area is larger than other planes providing space for more carry-on baggage in every class. The plane also has high-bandwidth fibre optics, making high-definition video a reality for all passengers, on screens size of up to 12 inches in economy class.

The new A350-1000 joins other aircraft to offer Qatar’s six flights per day between Doha and London, and the flight will take approximately seven and a half hours.
