Get naked in a Parisian museum for one day only

In what might be the most Parisian event ever, one contemporary art museum is holding a one-day special event for nudists to wander the gallery without their clothing.

The Palais de Tokyo has declared 5 May as a naturists’ day. Organised by the Paris Naturists Association, entry is free but you will have to register with the association beforehand to gain entry. You can explore the museum but you will have to leave all your clothing in the cloakroom beforehand.

The event runs from 9.30am to noon and visitors will enjoy the exhibition Discorde, fille de la nuit. They will be taken on a guided tour by a naked member of staff. The association called the event “a historic moment for our capital” and while they didn’t heavily advertise the event, they’re hoping the interest will attract more members.

Despite naturist organisations reporting a decline in the amount of people interested in the lifestyle, it’s undergoing somewhat of a resurgence in Paris. In the last year, the city has opened a dedicated naked restaurant experience and has designated part of a public park to the use of naturists.

The Paris Naturists Association has other unusual nudist events organised for the coming months. As well as a bowling event and a comedy show, there is a a Parisian Naturism Day on 24 June, something the association hopes will become an annual event.

If the events are well-received, locals and visitors alike could have the option of enjoying more cultural and fun activities as clothing optional.
