Air passengers have accepted for years that cups of coffee on board planes are not up to the standards they get on the high street.

Delta Air Lines changed all that yesterday when it began brewing up a coffee delight during flights. And not just any coffee, the airline has announced it is brewing up Starbucks coffee on all of its flights. And not just in the US but around the world on the 5000 flights it operates each day.

The move will come as a major boost for coffee lovers who up to now have often slurped down their Starbucks at a gate before boarding, Travel Pulse reports.

Delta explained that this latest innovation on board was in line with their decision to team up with high-quality brands in a fresh bid to enhance travelers’ overall journey experience.

Up to now the airline had begun serving Starbucks on its West Coast Shuttle routes. This meant the customer flying between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) got to get their Starbucks together with those using the transcontinental markets of JFK International to LAX and SFO.

They company have disclosed that they will sell Starbucks Pike Place Roast as well as Starbucks VIA Ready Brew Italian Roast decaf. Both will be delivered to passengers in recyclable co-branded cups.
