Two Alaska lawmakers are reviving a proposal to rename Mount McKinley to its traditional Athabascan name Denali. North America’s highest peak, the 20,320ft mountain was named after the 25th US President William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901. Lawmakers have for decades tried to change the name back to its original Athabascan distinction, which means ‘the Great One’. Political analysts say the bill, which was introduced to the Senate on Wednesday, has a better chance under a Republican Congress. Read more: adn.com
