Dartmoor’s famous ponies are to be painted with fluorescent paint and given reflective beads. The effect gives the ponies an ‘alien glow’.
The ponies are famous for their stamina and were used to transport tin in local quarries. They now run wild on Dartmoor, in western England, but are threatened by traffic – 74 animals have been killed so far on roads in the area. Blue paint was successfully trialled in September and the measures are now being wheeled out to more animals. Read more: bbc.co.uk
