An off-grid eco zipwire park has opened on the Great Ocean Road

Australia’s first off-the-grid adventure park has opened in the heart of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road region. Nestled among the towering Otway treetops, Live Wire Park bills itself as the ultimate outdoor adventure experience for all ages.

Designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, Live Wire Park is a sustainable business completely powered by nature. Their electricity is all solar-generated, whilst all water on site is collected, used, and treated to reduce waste and optimize the use of natural resources. So what have they got? How about a 525m-long ‘Shockwave’ zip line, or for something more sedate check out the breath-taking views of the native Blue Gums on the leisurely 120m long Canopy Circuit suspended pathway.

If you’ve been climbing the stairs and not taking the lift, you’ll be able to tackle the high intensity Super Circuit through 53 challenging physical and mental activities whilst suspended high in the air. Participants are asked to test their endurance while swinging on ropes, scaling trees and take the plunge in a supercharged 10m QuickJump bungee, whilst putting their brain to the test with problem-solving puzzles.

Meanwhile kids can test their agility on the Short Circuit: an electrifying obstacle course with 26 hair-raising activities for the youngsters to overcome and finish with a sense of achievement. The family-owned business is run by locals who are passionate about the environment and sharing the natural wonders of the Otway’s National Park as they supervise and guide visitors through their adventure.

Further along the Great Ocean Road, in the heart of the Otways at Beech Forest, Otway Fly has been offering a similar experience for years, plus ranger-led rainforest walks. Their original 600m-long Tree Top Walk was opened in September 2003, with a zipwire experience added in 2010. If one spot is crowded, particularly on school holidays you now have a choice for zipwiring and tree-top exploring on Victoria’s shipwreck coast.
