Travellers who want to be the first in line to check out a floating hotel and spa in Sweden can now make a reservation.
Bookings are open for Arctic Bath for visits between February 2020 and 2021, through Off the Map Travel. While the spa will naturally be focused on wellness treatments, guests will likely be just as excited to be in the Arctic, where the buildings will float in warm weather and freeze into the ice when temperatures cool.
The spa complex and cabins are on the water of the Lule River, connected by floating walkways. The circular Arctic Bath has a spa treatment room, four saunas, an outdoor cold bath, a hot bath and more. As is popular in Nordic countries, guests can enjoy the sauna experience – and jumping between cold and hot-water baths. But the wellness treatments will also go beyond the traditional, featuring things like massage and “bespoke crystal healing sessions”.
There will be a focus on nutrition, exercise, peace of mind, and the care of face and body. The menus, snacks and smoothies will feature local ingredients, and more.
The unique building is designed by architects Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi and is inspired by “the timber floating era which recalls how felled trees were transported downriver for processing”. Guests will be able to stay in one of six floating cabins or six cabins on land.
A three-day trip to the Arctic Bath Hotel and Spa – with accommodation in a floating cabin, daily breakfast, a nightly five-course dinner, a guided Northern Lights hunt, transfer and spa – costs £3995 per person through Off the Map Travel.
