This coming weekend Dubai will play host to the World Drone Prix where drone races from across the world will come together to battle it out for the grand prize of one million US dollars.

In the past few years, drone racing, once considered more of a hobby craft, has emerged into the professional sport sphere resulting in the formation of the US Drone Racing National Championship and the F1-style Drone Racing League. Contestants entered the competition via video submission and 150 teams were picked from around the globe. The Drone Prix looks to put on a show with a custom built Mario Kart-style track and a spread of additional prizes for categories such as best freestyle team, best track team, most innovative drone and crowd favourite.
