Good news for Lego fans as Australia finally gets its first certified store in Queensland

Everything is awesome for Australian Lego fans with the news that the first Lego-certified store in the country will open in November.

The new retail store will be part of the Gold Coast’s Dreamworld amusement park and at 350 square metres will be the largest retail outlet there. It can also be accessed externally, so Lego-heads don’t need to buy a ticket to the park to get your ‘brick-fix’.

Patrons can expect life-sized Lego models for some inspiration and some exclusive product releases. Children (and, if you can get away with it, adults too) can also enjoy immersive play areas to really fire up your creativity.

One of the features fans are getting most excited about is the Pick-a-Brick wall  – a wall full of tubs packed to the brim with bricks and other elements you can build with. It allows you to add specific bricks to your collection and you pay by weight.

CEO of Dreamworld, Craig Davidson said of the announcement: “This new store will be a destination in its own right.” Given the hugely positive reaction on social media, we’re inclined to believe him.

Lego-certified stores are franchises that are almost identical to official stores and appear in countries where Lego don’t operate any stores themselves. They’re a common site in Asia, with the first store opening in 2014 in Singapore. Milan is the latest location to have a Lego-certified store with their opening earlier this month.
