Grab your friends and head to Japan to rent an uninhabited island for your exclusive use

If your idea of holiday heaven is being as far away from other groups of people as possible, you might like the latest destination we’ve discovered. You can now rent an uninhabited island for your party for the night in the Seto Inland Sea in Japan, and nobody else will be there to bother you.

The island will be rented exclusively to one group per day from 28 April. Departing from Uno Port in Tamano, Okayama, groups of between four and 80 people can take a 30-minute boat trip to Tatebajima island, which is affectionately called “Kujira-Jima,” meaning Whale Island, because of its shape. It has a circumference of about 2 km, and once you’re there, you can enjoy camping, barbecuing and other activities, or  you could even hold a party or wedding there.

The fee per adult per night is 21,600 yen (($202) including camping facilities and transport to and from Uno Port. If there is no booking the following night, it is possible to stay an extra night for 10,800 yen ($101). Taking a day trip without staying overnight is also an option for 10,800 yen ($101). If you are planning to hold an event without staying over, around 150 people are permitted to attend.

You can walk around the island in about 30 minutes, and there is a main beach and several other private beaches there. A power generator, a cooking space and hot showers are also available, and there are facilities to have barbecues. If you like to get active, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking are two activities on offer.
