The newest British royal baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, is going to embark on his first official tour, when he heads to South Africa this autumn along with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has requested that Harry and Meghan carry out the visit, and it has been confirmed on their Instagram page that it will be their “first official tour as a family.” Great excitement has been generated by this announcement, with royal fans around the world anticipating some glimpses of baby Archie in South Africa, where he will remain for the duration of the tour.
Prince Harry will also visit Angola and Malawi by himself, as well as undertaking a working visit to Botswana en route to the other countries. While he does this, Meghan will remain in South Africa with Archie, who was born on 6 May and will only be a few months old when the trip takes place.
Africa is special to Harry and Meghan as they fell in love while camping in Botswana and reportedly went on honeymoon to East Africa. Harry even sourced the main diamond of Meghan’s engagement ring from the country. They also went on a three-day trip to Morocco in North Africa earlier this year, where Meghan had a henna tattoo painted on her hand and they visited the residence of King Mohammed VI.
According to the post, Harry and Meghan are “excited” about the forthcoming trip. “The Duke and Duchess are really looking forward to meeting so many of you on the ground, and continuing to raise awareness of the high impact work local communities are doing across the commonwealth and beyond,” it says.
