Perm 36, a museum of political repression in Russia’s Gulag archipelago based on a former labour camp for dissidents, is closing down. The museum was created in 1992 and while the museum complex belongs to the state, the exhibits belong to the nonprofit organisation Perm 36. According to this organisation, the restoration works stopped in 2012, and the negotiations with the Perm Region administration regarding the museum preservation have been unsuccessful.
