Eating in al fresco is great, however, Singapore’s hot and humid weather usually sends diners heading inside for meals. Luckily Singaporean multi-concept restaurant, The Summerhouse, has found a solution to this problem by installing three weatherproof geodesic dining domes in the restaurant’s edible garden.
Spacious enough to accommodate up to eight people each, these clear, self-contained bubble-like structures are fully equipped with air-conditioning, mood lighting and sound system. Guests also have the choice of three interior themes, Bohemian, Scandinavian and Lounge.
Don’t come expecting outdoor picnic fare, instead, diners are treated to elegant, nature-inspired, farm-to-table cuisine such as charcoal-grilled slipper lobster with tarragon, chicory and finger lime or Moroccan eggplant with goat cheese, leek ash, coriander and crouton. Ingredients are sourced from a farming collective of growers, producers and fisherman; the herbs and garnishes are harvested from the dome’s surrounding garden.
Garden Domes are available for bookings from Wednesday to Sunday and prices start at S$300++ (US$227) per couple, which each additional guest priced at S$120++(US$91).
