Spanish village becomes open-air street art gallery

The tiny Castellón village of Fanzara in eastern Spain is slowly being transformed into Spain’s street art capital after enterprising residents invited graffiti artists to paint the town.

Last September the residents of Fanzara called on street artists to decorate their village and homes with murals. The council-endorsed event was unexpectedly popular, resulting in an open-air gallery of 44 murals painted on the sides of homes and public buildings by 23 street artists from around Spain.

A few months later after word spread, three Italian graffiti artists travelled to Fanzara to contribute another handful of murals. Now, a second four-day sitting has been scheduled for July 16, 2015. Read more: elpais.com
