If you are in Chicago and want to see a spectacular view, you may be impressed by the one offered by what has been officially declared the world’s largest rooftop bar.
Offshore is an all-weather venue on the third floor of Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. It was recently recognised by Guinness World Records as the “world’s largest rooftop deck” with a confirmed area of 52,310.29 square feet.
It can hold up to 1000 people, and it offers panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. Its features include a luminous bar, seven fire pits, an entertainment and gaming area and multiple large gathering spaces.
It also has an 8500-square-foot indoor space with retractable glass walls, which seal off the entire space from the elements and fully retract in good weather to allow the lakeside breeze in. Open to adults over 21, the indoor space is centred around two large bars.
The southeast end of the venue features a live performance stage. There are two private lawns with sail shade canopies for activities and events, including group gaming, social gatherings, bridal parties and weddings.
Offshore also does food and its culinary team is lead by executive chef, Michael Shrader. His focus is on “seasonal, modern American cuisine with global influences served as small, shareable plates.” On the drinks front, highlights include local craft beer options and “signature, Instagrammable drinks,” which will appeal to those going to the venue to capture the rooftop views.
