The USS Ranger, the aircraft carrier featured in Top Gun, will be dismantled and sold for scrap. For eight years, the ship has been docked in Washington State, and officials have for years tried to gather funding to turn it into a museum. Donations, however, failed to meet the $35 million budget plan for the museum. As a result, the Navy was forced to sell the ship to a scrap metal company. The USS Ranger was first commissioned in 1957 and was used in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. The ship was decommissioned in 1993. Read more: washingtontimes.com
