If you’re a fan of unusual accommodation or adore all things equestrian, a stay at a glamorous converted horsebox in England might be for you. Three vintage horseboxes are available to rent in Herefordshire, and are located in the grounds of the 22-bedroom Georgian manor, Brooks Country House.
The boxes have been tastefully transformed into outdoor hotel rooms, all of which feature their own ensuite with bath and shower. Instead of beds of hay, you can expect crisp white linen and fluffy bath sheets, and all three rooms come complete with a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi access and complimentary toiletries.
The horseboxes are different sizes, so while the smallest of the three has a double bed above the cab, the other two rooms have double beds and fold-out bunks that are suitable for younger guests.
You can make full use of the amenities of the country house, which includes access to a shared hot tub, sauna and outdoor pool. The Georgian manor has a restaurant in the former library and offers a dining room, guest lounge, bar, pool room, games room and gym.
The manor house sits on 13 acres in the Wye Valley, and overlooks an expanse of former parkland, now owned by the National Trust. The quaint towns of Hereford and Ross on Wye are a stone’s throw away, as is the popular tourist destination of Symonds Yat, which straddles the River Wye. For those of a more adventurous nature, there are canoeing and cycling facilities nearby, or guests could also head over to the Cheltenham races for the day.
